Description

The Kenwood KA V7700 is an audio-video amplifier designed to combine AV surround sound features, such as Dolby Pro Logic and DSP, with a high-quality, authentic amplifier section. At the heart of the sound experience is a DSP logic circuit that integrates a directional enhancement circuit with the DSP mode, adding early reflection and reverb sounds to create an immersive sense of spatiality.

The Dolby Pro Logic Surround decoder utilises a new-generation LSI DSP that digitally processes the directional enhancement circuit, the Dolby B circuit and automatic input balancing. This approach overcomes the limitations of older analogue systems, improving sound accuracy and reducing circuit complexity by eliminating issues related to the linearity of voltage-controlled amplifiers and the quality of analogue components.

The DSP circuitry dedicated to ‘presence’ allows early reflections and reverberations to be managed via digital processing, delivering a realistic and immersive sound environment. The analogue signal is converted via a fourth-generation, 64 fs, 1-bit noise-shaping A/D converter, whilst a DSP processor handles the calculations. Six predefined sound environment presets are available.

The sound field can be customised using adjustable DSP parameters: you can modify the intensity of the effect, the listening position (moving it forwards or backwards), the wall response and the perceived room size via the distance between the early reflections. All parameters can be stored using the remote control.

The system offers a channel mode that adapts the presence signal according to the number of connected speakers, allowing you to enjoy the DSP logic in configurations of 2 front + 1 centre (3 channels) or 2 front + 2 rear (4 channels), or to use only the two front channels for a simplified experience.

There is also a centre mode that can be configured according to the presence and size of the centre speaker: ‘normal’ for small speakers, ‘wide’ for medium or large ones, and ‘phantom’ if there is no centre speaker.

The delay time adjustment allows you to adapt the sound reproduction to the listening environment and the speaker layout.

To handle video software that emphasises high frequencies in the L/C/R channels positioned behind the screen, a “cinema screen” function has been integrated with three selectable response curves.

The power amplifier section employs a 5-channel discrete configuration, whilst the internal design has been optimised to reduce interference between circuits through the separation of the PCBs, the power transformer windings and the microprocessor’s ground connection.

The system is also equipped with an independent video REC selector for separate recordings, a source direct function and dedicated pre-out outputs for front, centre and rear channels, as well as a mono output for the subwoofer.
