A Denon-style CD player featuring a 20-bit Super Linear Lambda converter. It utilises a configuration with two independent DACs for the left and right channels. These consist of a pair of AD1861N chips from Analog Devices, a manufacturer highly regarded in the field of digital-to-analogue conversion. These, combined with the high resolution of the digital filter and 8x oversampling at 20-bit, improve the reproduction of small signals and channel separation. The single-chip Lambda processor reduces unwanted noise and, using IC technology, improves operational stability and the precision of data transmission.
The mechanism is the tried-and-tested Sony KSS 240A, which is found on many players of that era.
In terms of connectivity, it features: two analogue outputs, fixed and variable (remote-controlled); a variable front headphone output via a jack connector. The digital connection offers two options: coaxial and optical Toslink. A
high-class chassis enhanced by wooden side panels. The upper structure is made of extruded aluminium, which lends a sense of luxury. The front panel is understated and elegant, but the retractable lower panel conceals all the controls. Among its various functions, it also features a digital pitch commander that can adjust the CD playback pitch by ±12.0% in 0.1% increments via digital PLL.
The main functions are:
-
direct selection - automatic search
- manual search
- random play
- programmed playback of up to 20 tracks
- index search
- repeat all tracks
- pause / standby
- timer playback
- time adjustment
- pick, link, peak search - fader function
- display dimmer function to adjust the display brightness across four levels.
