Timeless elegance and sound quality in this Augusta Hi-Fi stereo system, a historic brand founded in Rovereto in the 1950s.
This vintage set comprises the following components:
Augusta XA 300, a powerful amplifier capable of delivering crisp and dynamic sound reproduction. It delivers approximately 60 W per channel in Class AB, with a power handling capacity of 200 W. Two pairs of speakers can be connected, selectable from the front panel. The speaker outputs are protected by a fuse located near the screw terminals for connecting the speakers. The minimum drive impedance is 4 ohms; therefore, if four speakers are to be used for an immersive listening experience, the minimum impedance of each must not be less than 8 ohms.
In terms of line inputs, it features two Tape inputs (each with their own recording outputs), a Tuner input and an Auxiliary input. Modern devices such as CD players, Alexa, streamers or Bluetooth receivers can also be connected to the line inputs. A phono input is included for connecting a turntable with a classic MM cartridge. Furthermore, there is the option to connect an external equaliser, as this amplifier features a pre-amp section separate from the power amp section via the classic rear jumpers.
All source connections are made via standard RCA cables, with white and red plugs, but for Tape I there is also the option of connecting via the old 5-pin DIN standard. A further connection is found on the front panel, namely a microphone input.
The front panel is feature-rich and includes push-button source selection, volume control, balance and tone controls. There is also a Loudness selector, a Stereo/Mono function switch, and high-pass and low-pass filters to cut out ultra-low and ultra-high frequencies, thereby protecting the speakers from barely audible sound excursions. A headphone output is also provided.
Augusta DXC 500, a single-cassette, mechanically operated recorder, equipped with two heads, an integrated Dolby system and backlit VU meters for precise audio control. Manual adjustment of bias and equalisation levels. On the front panel there are two separate knobs for adjusting the recording levels for the line input and the microphone inputs. There are two of these, conveniently accessible directly from the front. The tape counter is a three-digit mechanical display, and a memory can be set using the Memory button to allow rewinding to the desired point.
Augusta DXT 500, FM/AM stereo tuner with MPX filters and analogue scale. Selection of FM mono or automatic stereo reception, with the addition of a mute switch to silence the annoying noise between stations. Equipped with a 50-70 microsecond de-emphasiser selector and FM Multipath output. This analogue tuner guarantees an authentic and immersive radio listening experience.
The entire set is fitted with rack-style handles to protect the front panels and weighs approximately 25 kg in total.
Ideal for Hi-Fi enthusiasts and collectors, this Augusta system represents the excellence of Italian audio engineering from the 1970s.
The units have been refurbished and are in excellent condition, both aesthetically and functionally.
