Rega is a specialist hi-fi manufacturer based in Essex, UK, and is renowned for developing and manufacturing some of the most highly regarded turntables (as well as cartridges and tonearms), electronic components and loudspeakers available on the hi-fi market today. Rega was founded in 1973 and has honed its craft over many years, becoming a leading brand in every category in which it has launched a product.
The RP1 is Rega’s award-winning entry-level turntable, designed and built to deliver the best possible performance whilst remaining affordable. The turntable features a sleek, minimalist design, housing exceptionally high-quality materials and components to deliver sound unrivalled for its price. The RP1 is ready to play straight out of the box, requiring no major setup.
The RP1 features a manual speed change mechanism, which helps eliminate speed inconsistencies and reduces wear on the drive belt, unlike an automatic mechanism. This unit utilises the company’s RB101 tonearm, a precision main bearing, an anti-resonant phenolic resin platter and an exceptionally high-quality, low-vibration motor. These technological features are typically found in turntables costing double or triple the price of the RP1.
It comes with a Rega Bias 2 MM cartridge, which uses a pair of coils wound in parallel that are carefully assembled in dedicated mounts to create a stereo system. Each moving magnet cartridge is meticulously hand-assembled to the highest standards by Rega’s highly qualified technicians. Each cartridge is then tested and checked for two days to ensure that all the strict parameters for each model are met before being packed or fitted to a Rega turntable.
REGA’s multi-award-winning range of MM cartridges offers unrivalled clarity, delivering a natural stereo image and dynamic response.
