Description

The Denon DP-35F was a fully automatic turntable that incorporated Dynamic Servo Tracer technology, an advanced servo-assisted tracking system that represented a cutting-edge technical innovation in the world of turntables at the time. This model was positioned as a high-value-added solution, as it simplified some of the features of the superior DP-45F whilst maintaining high levels of precision, stability and reliability over time.

The straight, lightweight, low-mass tonearm was equipped with electronic servo-tracking, a direct evolution of the system developed for the top-of-the-range DP-100M. Unlike traditional turntables equipped solely with horizontal Q-dump damping, the DP-35F also featured a vertical Q-dump, capable of significantly reducing low-frequency resonances. This solution helped to limit crosstalk and intermodulation distortion, raising the playback quality to standards that were particularly high for the time. The inclusion of a Q-dump adjustment control also allowed the tonearm’s behaviour to be adapted to a wide range of cartridges, making the model extremely versatile within the historical context in which it was designed.

The automatic system was fully electronic and free of mechanical contacts, with a microprocessor controlling all functions, ensuring extremely precise tonearm movements free from unwanted inertia, without compromising tracking sensitivity. Among the integrated functions was also a fast repeat feature, useful for ensuring continuous playback in the fully automatic models of that period. Direct drive was provided by a Denon quartz linear motor, renowned for its stability and its ability to maintain turntable rotation within particularly tight tolerances.

The cabinet was constructed from high-density materials, selected for their damping properties and ability to reduce vibration transmission, with a metallic finish reminiscent of the style of Denon electronics from the 1980s.

The unit for sale retains all the model’s distinctive features and is presented as a refurbished collector’s item, with some minor cosmetic imperfections due to age, which do not compromise either its mechanical integrity or overall appearance. The dust cover is intact and free from obvious marks, whilst the signal cabling has been fitted with low-capacitance cable and gold-plated connectors. Actual photographs of the unit are available for a full visual assessment of the item.
