Teac V 1030 - 3 head cassette recorder

This TEAC V-1030 is a stereo cassette recorder featuring Dolby B/C and HX-Pro noise reduction; it was first released by TEAC in 1995.

The main features of the TEAC V-1030 are: 3 heads and off-tape monitoring, a 4-digit digital linear tape counter, automatic tape type selection capable of handling standard, chrome and metal tapes, and a single capstan drive with belt transmission. A

typical front-loading cassette recorder with the cassette compartment located in the centre of the deck. Tape ejection is mechanically operated and the cassette must be positioned with the side to be played facing forwards in the cassette compartment.

The level meters used are generic digital peak meters. The fully logical transport controls used respond to the slightest touch of the fingers for quick and effortless selection of the transport function.

The Dolby C type used in the V-1030 provides 20 dB of noise reduction above approximately 1,000 Hz, effectively doubling the amount provided by the B type. The Dolby HX PRO system provides precise bias control during recording to reduce distortion and improve linearity in the high-frequency range, resulting in a recorded sound that is highly faithful to the original. The 19 kHz multiplex pilot signal present in FM stereo broadcasts can cause false triggering of the noise reduction system. The V-1030’s switchable MPX filter filters out the pilot signal and ensures correct Dolby processing of FM stereo programmes. A jack socket for a pair of stereo
