In the late 1960s, the Davoli Krundaal Lied Super Effects represented one of the pinnacles of Italian manufacturing in the field of musical amplification. Launched in 1967, during a period of intense experimentation with sound, this model combined technical innovation with expert craftsmanship, standing out for its versatility and its distinctive tonal character, which made it a benchmark for many musicians of the era.
The head used EL504 valves for the power stage and ECC81/ECC82 valves for the preamp, delivering a warm, full-bodied dynamic response typical of the finest valve amplifiers of the period. Among its most original features were built-in vibrato, fuzz and reverb effects, all fully analogue and controllable via an external pedal. These functions, rare for the time, made the Lied Super Effects a cutting-edge piece of kit, capable of offering sonic possibilities previously reserved for expensive studio equipment.
The power section, delivering approximately 45 watts RMS, was designed to ensure a smooth and well-controlled response, suitable for both electric guitars and instruments such as bass and keyboards. The entirely Italian construction, solid and precise, confirmed Davoli Krundaal’s reputation as one of the most innovative brands on the European scene of those years.
The unit for sale has recently been refurbished, with the electrolytic capacitors replaced and the contacts cleaned, whilst maintaining the full functionality of the original circuits. Completing the system is the Davoli DL-45 cabinet, configured with two 8-inch and two 10-inch speakers, which ensured excellent tonal reproduction and a balanced sound. The front grille has been replaced with suitable acoustic material, respecting the period aesthetics and preserving the authenticity of the unit.
Aesthetically, the head unit and cabinet are in excellent overall condition, with slight signs of wear consistent with their age, but no significant defects. The system retains a striking visual impact, typical of late 1960s Italian design, and today stands as a tangible testament to an era when valve sound was synonymous with innovation and craftsmanship.
A rare example of Italian technology in the world of hi-fi and music, now sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for its aesthetic appeal and historical value.
