Philips VR 550 - VHS video recorder

The Philips VR 550 is a Hi-Fi stereo video recorder designed to offer great convenience in everyday use. With the ability to record your favourite TV programmes at the touch of a button and choose between two recording speeds, it ensures intuitive handling of video cassettes. If the cassette does not have enough space, the VR-550 automatically switches to extended recording mode.

The Turbo Timer allows for quick and easy scheduling of delayed recordings, whilst the Record Link technology automates recording from the source connected to the SCART socket. The VR-550 starts up automatically and switches to recording mode as soon as it detects the scheduled start of a satellite decoder.

Thanks to Digital Studio Picture Control, the picture is optimised for consistently satisfying visual quality. The audio utilises the Nicam Hi-Fi Stereosystem, offering playback quality comparable to that of a CD. Furthermore, it allows NTSC recordings to be viewed on a PAL TV, making it extremely versatile.
